Orthodontic Specialists Use A Variety Of Appliances

Nowadays, thanks to the latest advances in orthodontics, more and more equipment are being utilized by specialists in orthodontics. In the past, many people were reluctant to use these appliances however, due to the new advancements in technology and orthodontics, the appliances utilized by orthodontic specialists are now an absolute "must-have" for those who care about their appearance and hygiene.

Braces, especially in the early days, can be embarrassing to wear. Braces are comprised of wire, tiny elastic ties, and silver brackets. At the beginning of orthodontics, silver brackets are bonded directly to the teeth's front and the elastic ties secure the wire onto the bracket.

To enhance their appearance the brackets are constructed from metal, tooth-colored ceramic, or gold. The elastics for orthodontics come in a range of shades.

However, in recent times, additional appliances apart from braces have come into the market. Some of these are Invisalign which is a set of the transparent plastic tray. They're a bit like a bleaching tray.

Similar to braces, Invisalign can be used to help move the teeth of a patient into their correct position. Each aligner is used for approximately two weeks. In two weeks, the aligners will need to be replaced.

The duration of use for this procedure is usually contingent on the extent to which the teeth of the patient need to be taken out. The patients also require this procedure for 16 to 22 hours every day. However, to achieve optimal results, one should use Invisalign for a total of 22 hours per day.
